Housingsmaximizeper-
formanceby increasing
efficiencywhile, at the
same time, directing the
airstream ina specific
direction.They are fabri-
cated fromheavy gauge
steel, continuouslywelded.Housingsareavailable
inbothCWandCCW configurationandare rotat-
able. Large cutouts simplifywheel removal.
Spun steel inlet cones are designed to provide
maximumadjustabilityandprevent wheel rubbing
in both axial and radial planes, extremely critical
in temperature applications because of shaft
expansion. Angle inlet ring is supplied as an
accessory if an inlet connection is required.
Split aluminum coolingwheel
must be installed todissipate
heat inapplicationswith
temperatures above300°F.
Shaft seal consists of a steel retainer plate with
asbestos-freegasket for applications to800°F.For
801°F to 1000° F, a high temperature carbon ring
seal with stainless steel retainer is bolted to thedrive
side.Seals shouldnot be consideredgas-tight.
For accessibility, the lubrication fittingsaremounted
on thesupport gussets.Lube linesof nylonor copper
tubing are run to the bearings. Extended lines are
especially recommended for continuous operation
or applicationswherebearingsaredifficult to reach.
Guardsare recommended toprotect operators from
all moving equipment and from access to high
velocity airstreams. Belt guards and shaft/bearing
guards are available fromChicagoBlower. It is the
user’s responsibility to assure that the installation
or applicationmeetsOSHA
safety standards.
Heavy duty ball or spherical roller bearings are
both 2-bolt or 4-bolt pillow block type with either
greaseor oil lubrication.
Precision shafts aremade fromgradeSAE1040-
1045 steel, turned, ground and polished for close
tolerance fit.
